Super Secret Project!

Do you happen to remember that super secret project that I was working on a year ago?  Well, I completed it a year ago and totally forgot about this blog!  I have done quite a bit of sewing over the last year, so I am going to try to get caught up with posting some of my projects!

The secret project was a gift for a 3 year old's birthday.  I did not work from a pattern or a template, I just designed it as I went along.  It turned out pretty good, but I will definitely make some design changes if I ever make another one of these.  Are you ready to see what it was?  Here you go!

I think this is the perfect gift for a 3 year old!  Something that is small enough that can be easily carried around, but also provides hours of entertainment.  What 3 year old doesn't love to color?

Keep an eye out for more posts of some of my sewing projects from the last year!

Pattern Challenges...

I have decided that pattern making can be quite challenging. I am working on creating a pattern for a 3 year old's birthday gift. It is something that I have seen around on etsy and I just love the idea, but why buy a pre-made pattern when I can just do it myself?? Why. because I always make life more difficult than it really needs to be. This project has definitely been a challenge, but also a learning experience! I have become very familiar with my seam ripper...which probably isn't something to be too proud of. I am hoping to have the finished product completed in time for the birthday party.... this Saturday... and then I can share it here!

After my super secret birthday gift project I am looking forward to using my new Simplicity pattern that I bought. I really love the 2 bags on the right side, and I have some fabulous fabric picked out that I think will be just perfect! I hope to make both of these! Time to learn how to read patterns and create pleats!

Welcome to SewCraftyKristin!

Hi! And Welcome to SewCraftyKristin! This blog's current purpose is to follow my journey of becoming a seller on etsy(which has been a dream of mine ever since I first heard of etsy!)

I have always loved crafting and being creative. I was a florist for 6 years and I dreamed of owning my own floral shop one day.... unfortunately I needed to make a career change, as creative jobs don't tend to pay too well, or offer full time positions or health benefits for yourself and your family... So I am now an accountant, a mother, and a wife who does crafty things in all of my free time!! I have tried pretty much every craft out there...scrapbooking, crocheting, cross stitching, jewelry making, wine charms, coasters, tutus, headbands, card making, silk screening... I love all crafts, I just tend to get too easily distracted and never really commit to anything, which is why sewing is perfect for me!

I decided a week ago that I was going to try to make a purse(with my sewing machine that I got for Christmas and still hadn't even looked at in mid March). I went to the craft store to stock up on all of my supplies. I got home and started working... 4.5 hours later I had completed my very first purse! Since then I have finished 2 more purses, each one a little different, as I am trying to perfect my pattern. Sewing is awesome due to the fact that I can start and finish a project in the same day if I really try!

Current projects: Easter Basket/Purse for my sweet little girl, A super surprise for a very special girl who is turning 3 on April 3rd, more purses, and making purses from a new pattern that I bought tonight.

Feel free to follow my blog and my journey of opening an etsy shop!
